How we work

Spec-based comparisons, not lab tests

Our comparisons are built from published manufacturer specifications (dimensions, capacity, power ratings, materials, warranty and weight), public data from sources like the U.S. Energy Information Administration and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and arithmetic we show on the page. We do not say "we tested" unless we physically tested a product, and if we ever do, we'll describe exactly how.

How AI is used

We use AI tools to gather spec sheets, organize comparison tables, draft text and check calculations. AI models can produce wrong facts, so we treat every AI-produced claim as unverified until a person checks it against the cited source. Specifically:

Prices

Prices change constantly. We don't type retailer prices next to retailer links, including Amazon's. When we mention a price for context (for example, a manufacturer's list price), we say where it came from and the date we saw it. Always check the live price before buying.

Independence

We earn commissions from some retailers and brands (see our affiliate disclosure). Commission rates don't decide which products we include or how we rank them. If the best fit for a reader is a product we earn nothing on, we still recommend it.

Safety and scope

Our guides are general information, not electrical, plumbing, medical or financial advice. Anything wired, plumbed or gas-fitted into a home (a standby generator, a hardwired hot tub, a sauna heater on a dedicated circuit, a built-in grill on a gas line) should be installed by a licensed professional, with permits where required. Connecting a generator or battery system to a home's wiring requires a properly installed transfer switch or interlock.

Corrections

If a spec changes or we got something wrong, email hello@buyrightonce.com. We fix errors promptly and note meaningful corrections at the bottom of the article.
